Army/Navy has ben called the greatest rivalry in sports anything you do is important. It doesn't matter if you are playing marbles, you want to win.The Army Powerlifting Team did their part defeating Navy once again to make it 11 in a row 10 in a row for Coach Scarpulla and his Black Knights.Giving them the longest current win streak against Navy at West Point. Coach Scarpulla is undeafeated against both Navy and AF in his 10 years as head coach.
The day was action packed as usual with Navy bringing a strong roster of lifters to West Point. Army team Captain Don Byerly led the way with a win at the 242 pound weight class posting his largest total to date. Several other lifters also won their weight class capped off by CJ Goins who at 190lbs deadlifted an easy 645.
Army proved they are ready to head to LSU for the national championships in April to compete for a National title. "The team is strong and hungry" said Justin Volk a senior leader of the team. Home meets are always nice. Its nice to get to compete in front of the cadets and have your friends and family watch you compete. Navy showed they are putting together a strong team with some strong lifters and will be stronger then ever before
